NEW YORK: Dances Patrelle at New York LIve Arts Recurring event

Saturday, April 13, 2019 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Featured Alumni: Brian Lettendre (BFA, '01, dance) and Reed Takersley (BFA, '14, dance)

Set to a mesmerizing original score by long-time Patrelle collaborator, Patrick Soluri, “Madame X” debuted in 1999 to rave reviews. It was revived in 2005 with Sandra Brown and ABT’s Marcelo Gomes as the scandalous couple, but has not been seen since. More topical and important than ever “Madame X” is the can’t-miss ballet of 2019. Debuting with “Madame X” is a brand new work by Francis Patrelle, “The American Dream: It’s Only Business” Set to César Franck’s Piano Quintet in F Minor, Patrelle’s newest work tells the stories of three families. ThPe first family is perfection itself, masters of business and high-society. The second is white-collar respectability. The third is the blue-collar bedrock of our nation. Each family has so much to give, and maybe even more to lose. And finally, back by popular demand is Francis Patrelle’s tour de force solo, “American Overture,” with Twyla Tharp Company star Reed Tankersley in the iconic role of Uncle Sam.

November 2019

Emi Ferguson (BM ’09, MM ’12, flute; MM ’11, historical performance) and continuo band Ruckus perform J.S. Bach’s Sonata for Flute and Continuo in E Minor, BWV 1034: III. Andante at Harvard University’s Horner Room. The group also recorded this work in their recently released album, Fly the Coop, hailed as “blindingly impressive” by the New York Times, which features new arrangements of Bach’s Flute Sonatas and Keyboard Preludes. You can see them perform the album live on Sunday, November 17 in Upper Manhattan’s Corpus Christi Church.
This video features Juilliard Historical Performance alums Clay Zeller-Townson (MM ’13) on baroque bassoon, Paul Holmes Morton (MM ’16) on theorbo, baroque bassist Doug Balliett (MM ’12), harpist/harpsichordist/organist Parker Ramsay (MM ’17, harp), and Shirley Hunt and Stephen Stubbs on baroque cello and guitar, respectively. Ferguson and Balliett also serve on Juilliard’s Evening Division faculty.
